The more things change, the more they stay the same...

As we're in 2012 cross-dressing has been apart of the norm. Some see it, then keep on with their day, for others, they see it,and have to take a second look because they can't believe their eyes. In many places it is viewed as being ridiculous, flamboyant, and offensive. Cross-dressing has made headlines in various news stories as several school students attempted to come in school dressed as the opposite sex. For some people who cross-dress they've admitted to not taking the matter seriously but just something that they like to do every now and then;but for some it is a lifestyle. In 2009 a high school senior was told to change his clothing or go home. The cause of the student being told this was due to what he decided to wear on that specific day: A wig, and stilleto heels. His explanation was "I was born a boy,but i feel like a woman. I wear women's clothing every day".In Society, the understood rule for the majority is-if you're a male, you should understand what that means and be masculine. For females, dresses, cute outfits, and girly charm are what is expected. Those that dont follow those rules will most likely be cast out and treated as if they were inferior. Older generations, sometimes, are uner the impression that today's music culture is to blame. That may have some truth to it. But like discrimination, cross-dressing has been in existence for decades. The late 1800s is when it first began.
